Luna Dos And Don'ts

When trying to figure out how to learn your body type, things can get a bit complicated. To figure out how to navigate around your body type, here is a more detailed guide on learning the do’s and don’ts when you are a Luna.

We will be delving into what goes into our bodies: food and drink.

FOODS

DO:   Eat Luna-friendly foods such as chicken and tofu. These meats are considered to be on the cooler part of the spectrum and more friendly for the balance of your Qi. Also, vegetables and fruits that are grown during the summer with half sun exposure and shade are crucial for your body’s balance. Most vegetables that grow from the ground are a plus.

Additionally, keep an eye out for hot “spicy” teas such as ginger, turmeric, and lemon teas. It may seem tempting to gulp down several cups but it is best to limit yourself to at least one cup and a half to avoid “overheating”.

DON'TS: The biggest harm you can do to your body is to not take into consideration the weather. Most people would say having cold desserts and beverages taste the best during the winter. Little do they know the body becomes the most vulnerable during the coldest time of the year. DO NOT overwhelm your body with cold foods and beverages during the cold and windy weather. Instead, opt for a hot cup of ginger tea!

Summer can get really hot and humid causing that craving for a slice of watermelon. Unfortunately, watermelon can be pretty harmful if you overindulge. Because the watermelon is best grown in partial shade, close to the ground, and absorbs a significant amount of water, it is considered a very “cold” type of fruit. The same can be said for mangos, papaya and cucumbers. When it comes to these types of foods, moderation is key!

Take a look at the chart below to see a summary of harmful and beneficial foods.

DRINKS

DO: Drink Luna-friendly beverages such as ginger, green, and turmeric tea. If you are a big fan of iced coffees, try lavender, matcha, or chai lattes! If you would like to try a healthy form of a latte, try making Golden Milk. Golden Milk consists of heated turmeric, honey, and milk and has numerous health benefits. Although two of the three ingredients are great for Luna's Qi, be cautious with how often you consume dairy!

DON’TS: As previously mentioned, cold drinks during freezing weather have a substantial negative impact on your body. But even an excessive amount of these other “cold” drinks during normal weather can cause some harm. Refrigerated beverages such as sodas and beer can cause you to feel bloated for days. If this is you, help out your liver and consider stopping or lowering your intake of alcohol.

Another tricky beverage is milk. Whether it is in a glass or in your bowl of cereal, drinking milk every day can stack up common symptoms that can be happening to you right now such as often experiencing diarrhea and stomach aches.

Although you need nutrients from some of these items, it is best to approach them with moderation and caution.
